VeganMoFo 2018 Blogrolls!

VeganMoFo 2018 Blogrolls!

Well VeganMoFo’ers, it’s almost time! We hope you’re as excited as we are, and getting all your final preparations done. It’s going to be a busy month full of delicious food – and new online friends! A huge part of VeganMoFo is the wonderful community, and the opportunity to fill your social media (and life!) with like-minded folk. Please make sure to follow your fellow participants on Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/YouTube/their blogs, and look out for anyone posting under #veganmofo18. As always, we’ll be posting weekly round up posts here as well with some of our highlights.

Without further ado, here are the people you’re going to be posting alongside this September.

Here’s your Official 2018 Blogroll, where everyone who registered for VeganMoFo is listed by category (blog, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook). Get following!

Want to see if you have any neighbours participating this year? Check out the Where in the World? blogroll, organised by country (and state in the USA).

And don’t forget that not everybody is following the daily prompts or weekly themes. Some of you are flying solo with an exciting range of Individual Themes – which one sounds the most tempting to you?!

You can also find all Instagram posts right here on the blog as well – just make sure to use #veganmofo18, and you’ll appear on our Instagram Feed!

We have an OPML file of the RSS feeds from this year’s bloggers – find it here, and if you’d like to know how to use the file, check out this post!

Thank you very much to everyone who’s signed up for VeganMoFo 2018 – let’s make it the best one ever!

Pulsin Brownie Giveaway

With less than a month to go until VeganMoFo 2018, we’re pleased to announce this year’s first giveaway!

We’re teaming up with Pulsin to give three lucky participants the opportunity to win a mixed box of six raw chocolate brownies. Based from Gloucestershire in the UK, you may have seen their bars in stores across the country – but never fear if not, you now have a chance to try them!

All their brownies are vegan, and also suitable for those following gluten free and soya free diets – and all very delicious! Coming in Salted Caramel, Super Berry, Almond & Raisin, Peanut Chocolate Chip, and Maca Bliss flavours you won’t get bored.

To be in with a chance of winning, you just need to do two things:

  1. Sign up for VeganMoFo 2018 by 24th August – If you haven’t already done so, the form is right here! If you’ve already signed up, then you’re already in with a chance!
  2. Make your first VeganMoFo 2018 post on your registered social media account of blog on Saturday 1st September – just make sure to use the account you signed up with, and you’ll be good to go!

And it’s that simple! There will be three winners, one from the UK, one from the Rest of the World, and one from anywhere. They will be picked randomly from the participants and will be announced on Monday 3rd September.

If you want a taste sooner, you can order from the vegan section of their online store!

VeganMoFo 2018 Themes & Prompts!

VeganMoFo 2018 Themes & Prompts!

VeganMoFo 2018 is coming this September! We’re excited to get it underway, and hope you are too.

As in the last few years, we’ve created a list of weekly themes and daily prompts to inspire you – however the main goal is to post as much vegan food throughout the month as you can, and you’re welcome to create your own theme or even go freestyle! So the options you have are:

1) Weekly themes (which are listed below!). You can interpret these themes whichever way you like, and use them to inspire your posts!

2) Daily prompts (which are also listed below). These tie in with the weekly themes, but give you more specific ideas to follow. You can use all of them, or just a few!

3) Choose your own theme. You don’t need to follow any of our themes if you don’t want to – come up with your own and use that instead! So long as it’s vegan, everything goes.

4) A mixture of them all  Feel free to use the themes as a loose guideline, or choose ones you like the look of and create your own inspiration for the other days!

You can also participate on whichever platform you like – blog, Twitter, Instagram or Facebook, all participation is encouraged, just follow the #veganmofo18 hashtag.

We’ll have more info on sign-ups for you soon, but in the meantime here are the prompts:

Saturday 1st: Introduce you! –  Tell us a bit about you, your veganism, and what you like to cook and eat!

Week 1 – Inspiration Week! (Sunday 2nd to Saturday 8th)- This week is all about using different things as your inspiration for great food

Sunday 2nd: Emoji Inspired – Take an emoji and make food inspired by it! Go simple, and eat an avocado, or go all out and make one inspired by a funny face

3rd: Leader of a country, place, or group – whether you’re inspired by an ancient king, or your school headteacher, what food can you make inspired by them?

4th: Artist inspired – Art comes in many forms – how can you use it to inspire you?

5th: Inspiring cookbooks – Do you have a cookbook that’s inspired your vegan cookery? Share some food you love from it!

6th: The Anti-Vegan – we’ve all heard the statements. “But protein!”, “I could never give up bacon”, and so many more. Make a meal to counter these!

7th: Colour – In past years, we’ve had red themes, and green themes, but this year you get to pick your own colour! Use it to inspire a meal.

8th: Your own flops – Have you ever made a recipe or an idea, and it didn’t turn out so well? Use this as an inspiration to improve on it, and show us how it turned out.

Week 2: Dietary & Lifestyle Restrictions (Sunday 9th to Saturday 15th) – We love eating all the vegan food we can, but it’s good to learn how to cook for those who may have allergies or intolerances –  and challenge ourselves in the process.

Sunday 9th: Creamy without Nuts – A lot of vegan “cream” has cashews in, which is no good if you’re catering for a nut allergy. Can you make a creamy dish without nuts?

10th: Baking without Gluten – If you were to bake for a friend with a gluten allergy, what would you make? Challenge yourself to bake something without using gluten!

11th: Dessert without added Sugar – Whilst we love the sugary, chocolatey rich desserts as much as the next person, some people have to lower their sugar intake for a variety of reasons. What could you make for them?

12th: Spicy without Chillies – If you couldn’t eat chillies, how would you spice your food? Can you make a curry taste good without the addition of peppers?

13th: Snacks without the Packaging – For the environment’s sake, it’s good to cut down on all the plastic packaging. Show us some snacks that don’t come trussed in lots of plastic!

14th: Low salt, full flavour – Whilst salt isn’t the evil it was once proclaimed to be, some have to cut down on it. Can you show us something savoury without the salt?

15th: Free From Day – What other dietary restrictions have you come across? Have a friend who can’t eat nightshades? Someone on the low-FODMAP diet? Show us what you make.

Week 3: Budget Week (Sunday 16th to Saturday 22nd) – This week, we’re going to prove once and for all that veganism is affordable!

Sunday 16th: Pantry Meal – Don’t go out and buy anything fresh for this meal, cook something just using the contents of your storecupboards!

17th: Super Cheap Sweets – Being on a budget doesn’t mean not having dessert. Make us something sweet, but cheap.

18th: Leftovers, day 1 – Today, make a meal with the intention of using the leftovers for something else…

19th: Leftovers, day 2 – …and now, show us how to use those leftovers!

20th: Four for $4 (or £, or €) – Can you make a meal that serves four people for less than four dollars (or your equivalent currency!) Show us how.

21st: Scratch and Dent – Have you had any good finds in the clearance section? Perhaps you bought “imperfect” produce and it turned out pretty great. Make a meal inspired by something you found reduced.

22nd: Fancy but Frugal – You don’t need to spend a fortune to impress!

Week 4: Occasions Week (Sunday 23rd to Saturday 29th)- We love a good celebration! This week focuses on those special occasions in your life.

Sunday 23rd: Sunday Dinner – Did you ever have a “Sunday Dinner” tradition? Make a vegan version.

24th: Pot Luck Perfection – What would you bring to a pot luck?

25th: Birthday Bash – Would you rather others make food for you on your birthday? Or do you like to do it yourself? And what would you like?

26th: Favourite Holiday – What’s your favourite holiday ever? What do you like to make for it?

27th: TV Trays – A sit-down meal might be nice, but sometimes getting cosy with food and netflix is also needed. What’s your TV dinner?

28th: Prep ahead Picnic – If you’re going for a picnic or a roadtrip, what do you pack? What do you make?

29th: Brunch & Munch – Because brunch is so awesome, show us your brunch meals!

and finally…

Sunday 30th: Kitchen TourNow the month is concluding, show us where the magic has been happening!
