Feed Corrections + how to install an OPML file

Feed Corrections + how to install an OPML file

Here is the list of people whose blogs were not imported properly into Feedly, because the RSS address was wrong or because Feedly itself has issues. We miss you, Google Reader.

And by request, here is a terrible collage of how to import an OPML file and add individual blogs in feedly! I forgot to add this at the beginning, but make sure your ‘main folder’ in feedly is empty. If you are neurotic and already have your other feeds sorted into a dozen different categories like me, this will not be an issue.

feedlyhowto

1. In the left hand bar, click ‘add content’.
2. At the bottom, click on the orange thumbnail that says ‘OPML’.
3. Hit browse, and select the OPML file that you already downloaded and click ‘import’. The screen will take a minute to change, don’t panic or refresh!
4. The page will turn into your different feed categories, and you will see that the ‘main folder’ is filling up with new feeds. Exciting! Let it do that for a minute, there’s a tiny blue bar at the top of the main folder so you’ll know when it’s done.
5. When it’s done, click the little pencil over the main folder and rename it to VeganMoFo or VeganMoFo2014 or Skittle-dee-skittle-dat, it’s your folder.
6. To add the people above or any other blog you want, go back to ‘add content’ from the first step and paste the blog address in the search bar.
7. Hit the little green button and a menu will pop out of the left side and ask you if you want to put said blog in a category, so check the box for VeganMoFo/Skittle-dee and put it in. Done!

VeganMoFo 2014: Wednesday Round Up

VeganMoFo 2014: Wednesday Round Up

Well, we are three days in and Vegan MoFo is off and popping like Lil’  Mama’s lip gloss.  There are so many delightful blog posts going on that it was hard to narrow it down.  In the end, I went with posts that truly made me excited.

Check out A Seasonal Vegetable’s raw carrot halwa.  Pistachios and goji berries lend bright, vibrant colors to the dessert.

This chickpea corn salad from Vanishing Veggie looks like the perfect thing to pack for lunch tomorrow!

Who could not love Floral Frosting’s pizza rolls?!  When I saw them, I had to do a double take.  Absolutely droolworthy!

Welsh Girl Eats shares her Wednesday meals, including this solid looking leftover salad.

Last, but not least, House Vegan spices up our lives with some delicious looking donuts.

Hope everybody has enjoyed the first few days of VeganMoFo.  Happy blogging, y’all!!!

GIVEAWAY – Vegan Finger Foods Cookbook

GIVEAWAY – Vegan Finger Foods Cookbook

This giveaway is now closed

VFFI love finger foods, there is just something about eating bits of composed bites that seems so much more refined than shoveling forkfuls in your mouth from a bowl. When I found out Celine and Tami were writting a cookbook on finger foods I couldn’t wait to get a copy in my hot hands.

Upon cracking open Vegan Finger Foods the first thing I noticed was all the lovely photos taken by Celine and the very modern ideas. I had a hard time deciding what I would try because so many different recipes were appealing. I think the recipes in this book would appeal to all the different kinds of vegan diets out there. There are recipes that feature whole foods, are soy free, soy heavy, gluten free, bread based, raw, baked, complicated, easy, cupcake heavy, sugar free, comfort food, or chocolate based.

The first chapter is a short primer on finger foods and any types of special ingredients they use. Then it goes into “Veggie-Centric Finger Feasts” with recipes like “Kale Cucumber Cups” and “Snacking Chickpeas” these were all vegetable heavy and on the easier side. Next was “Stuffed and Dipped” with recipes like “Sauerkraut Stuffed Seitan Rounds” and “Baked Buffalo Tofu Bites” which I think most excited me. Then “Bread-Based Bites with recipes like “Pull Apart Pesto Bread” and “Spinach Swirls with Quicky Marinara” and finally “Sweet Little Somethings which includes recipes like “Creamsicle Ice Lollies” and “Goji Berry Cacao Bites”.

I’ve tried a bunch of recipes from the book including the Tahini Popcorn Balls, the Mexican Potato Skins, and the Baked Buffalo Tofu Bites and they have all been fantastic. Maybe my favorite has been these baked Jalapeno Poppers though. Delicious!Jalapeno poppers

If you would like a copy of Vegan Finger Foods too you are in luck! Since Tami and Celine are the coolest and longtime mofo-ers they are going ALL OUT and giving away 4 copies for the US and 3 copies for the UK & ROI too. Holy Shitake! Since the latter group are probably snug in their beds right now I am also going to keep this contest open for 48 hours so everyone has a chance to enter.

TO WIN A COPY Please leave a comment below with an email address that you check and answer me this Veganmofo Question: Of all the recipes, reviews, and stories you have read over the years from Veganmofoers which one has stuck with you the most? Did you try a recipe that became a favorite years ago? Did you decide to take the taco or beer challenge this year? Are you looking forward to traveling to New Orleans after reading all about the amazing food there? Whatever it is spill the beans and leave a link if you like!

VeganMoFo 2014 Tuesday Round-Up

VeganMoFo 2014 Tuesday Round-Up

Talking about holidays before they are upon us usually drives me completely bananas. Just the other day I swore of Pinterest until October starts because people are already posting Halloween stuff and it’s, like, 5,000 degrees here in Austin Texas. BUT I couldn’t help to start today’s round-up with these Frankenstein Brown Rice Krispie Treats from Fork and Beans because they are soooo cute and I love rice krispie treats and I can imagine eating these while rocking out to The Edgar Winter Group’s Frankenstein. I wish I could play the keytar. Frankenstein-Brown-Rice-Krispie-Treats-2-682x1024Do to the aforementioned 5,000 degree temperatures I’m not going to fire up my oven anytime soon but if I was I would totally make this Chocolate chip, walnut and date sourdough cake from Green Gourmet Giraffe. It looks so comforting and delicious. sourdough choc chip loaf-3Sticking with the dessert theme but maybe a little more summer-y I spied these lemon bars from the one and only Allyson Kramer which looked like ideal post pool food. Lemon barsI also saw a Gluten-Free Chocolate & Coconut Tart on Chic Vegan that looked incredibly creamy and delicious. Chocolate-Tart-Feature-610x250And after all that dessert there was even a healthy meal that caught my eye. Probably because it was served in a tray that looked like a car and I guess I’m a two-year old at heart. Sometimes I do get so hungry that I could cry so it’s not that far off. Check out Michelle’s tiny kitchen and see how she gets her children to crave farmer’s market lettuce in her post Baby Led Lunch: Greenmarket Salads. Those crispy chickpea bites look pretty delicious too.Michelle tiny kitchen

And that’s the Tuesday wrap up. Catch you later Mofo’s!

VeganMoFo 2014: RoundUp #1!

VeganMoFo 2014: RoundUp #1!

Happy very first day of VeganMoFo 2014!

Personally, I’m currently representing the contingent of enthusiastic MoFoers who are scrambling and sorting through their photo archives to not only get some sort of welcome post up on their lapsed blog, but rethinking their theme and getting a wee bit overwhelmed wandering through the greatness that is RandoMoFo.com. However, I urge anyone else in this camp to take a take breath with me, plan something delicious from an underused cookbook for dinner, and most importantly, remember that vegan blogging and everything else that the Vegan Month Food stands for is supposed to be FUN!

And to everyone out there with an amazing theme and shiny merch ready (half-joking here) to go, keep it up! Seriously, I’m already in awe, browsing the blogs today. BUT, enough about me, let’s all get inspired from a tour of some highlights of Day #1 so far:

First up, here’s a striking guide to homemade Vegan Kimchi over on Veganlina

Next up, we have Vegan Rissoles, veganized Welsh croquettes from Rosie’s Vegan Kitchen aka Vegan-in-Wales, who’s spending the month doing just that: revamping Welsch classics with a vegan touch.

Because there’s always time for salad, here’s Danielle Joe’s Arugula-Pear Salad with Chocolate Vinegarette...how lovely!

For something heartier, I’m pretty stoked about this Vegan Burgers & Books theme in store from MucVeg.com:

With that, I cheer you this Vegan Alcoholic Girl Scout Cookie Milkshake(!!!) reblogged onto the Fuck Yeah Vegan Ice Cream! tumblr, and remind you (and me!) to split your time between writing your own fab posts and visiting others’, because that’s the magic of VeganMoFo.

 Enjoy!!

P.S. And remember, you can join in on Instagram and Twitter simply be adding the #VeganMoFo and #VeganMoFo2014 hashtags for folks to explore!

The blogroll file is here!

The blogroll file is here!

Our expert OPML file creator worked as fast as possible to get this to you, so, click here to get the file that you put into Feedly or your other RSS reader:

VeganMoFo 2014 Blogroll

Please keep in mind that part of the success of getting all of the blogs correctly added to the file is that we get the correct RSS feed – some people put answers like ‘doesn’t work’ or that they don’t know their RSS url, those obviously we can spot and correct, but with 400 blogs we have to take your word that the link you gave us is correct. So if you signed up and you do not see your blog when you download the file, comment on this post with your blog name and we will compile a corrections post of the feeds that were missed, so people can add you to their feed reader themselves. You don’t have to re-give us all of the information you filled out on the form, just give us your blog address and we will look it up and fill it in ourselves. We know it sucks to see your blog missing, we will get your blog out to the community as quickly as possible, promise!

The lists that arrange the blogs by country/theme/etc. will be coming shortly, when they’re ready we’ll make another post and update the links to the right.

If you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to ask. Happy MoFoing, everyone!
